Car Insurance Tips

Everyone is searching for cheaper car insurance.  The adverts are telling us that this person saved £300 and that person saved £450 on there policy with little more detail than that.

As with many things in life, cheapest is not always best.  Its important that you ensure you have the full cover you need and you have thought of all outcomes.  Car insurance is not just about replacing your car in a crash, its important to remember that it covers any claims against you in the event of a crash and repairing any humans and road signs etc.

We have put together  some  car insurance hints and tips to consider when trying to get a good value motor insurance policy and keep your premiums down:

* Opt to pay a higher excess in the event of an insurance claim. Have confidence that you won’t need to claim and make savings.
* If you are a new driver, look at whether it would be cost-effective to complete the Pass Plus training programme to qualify for car insurance discounts.
* In order to keep costs down, companies love to do business on the internet.  It means less staff and buildings and therefore less costs.  This allows them to pass on savings to you and works in your favour.  Look out for online only discounts
* Approved immobilisers are not as expensive as you may thinks.  Compare the cost of your insurance with or without one.  It could pay for its self in 12 months and make the chances of losing your car a lot lower.
* Always be realistic about the annual mileage of the quote form but make sure you put an accurate figure.  Some journeys are not as far as they seem and you could cost yourself money if you put down a sky high figure.

Always try and use a broker or online site that compares more than one company.  Premiums vary widely and it really does pay to set aside a couple of hours to try a lot of sites.
